Volunteer With Us

Would you like to volunteering  with UYISENGA NI IMANZI or getting experience from professionals? Doors are open for you!

Not only can you support us through donations, but you can offer your time through the volunteer program. Volunteer work is open to both the national and international community. Here at UYISENGA NI IMANZI, we see the importance in community outreach for youth in need. The UNM staff works very hard to provide a multitude of services to the orphans they support, yet there is always a need for more hands on this in-depth job. We encourage you to volunteer with us to expand your field experience and make an important impact on this population of youth. Volunteers will grow from this exchange opportunity by learning about Rwandese culture and coming to understand the organization by observing and participating in the work of UNM’s 4 departments or services:

  1. Health, Education and Life Skills
  2. Economic Empowerment
  3. Planning, Advocacy and Communication
  4. Administration and Finances

Some Examples of Current Volunteer’s Work:

UNM currently has volunteers working in many capacities, such as paralegals, community development workers, Psycho-Social volunteers (APS) and Nkundabana volunteers. Nkundabana is a Kinyarwanda word that is translated to mean “I love children”. These Nkundabana volunteers visit orphans at home and school to check up on how they are managing and make sure they are receiving proper services. UNM also has a volunteer partnership with Global Youth Connect (GYC) for their Human Rights Delegation. The GYC participants have helped the organization begin a website development internship for North American and Rwandan participants.  Two interns volunteered to create this website and to advocate and fundraise for the organization through social media.

Are you from abroad and worried about how you will manage living in Rwanda?

Do not be worried. You are welcome!

When you volunteer with UNM it is possible for the organization to provide you with transportation and housing. For example, in the Southern and Eastern Provinces there are ready-to-use housing facilities located very near training rooms where many UNM activities take place.

There are a number of volunteer opportunities to consider:
